Elisa Longo Borghini takes solo win at women's Giro dell'Emilia

Trek - Segafredo have worked to put Elisa Longo Borghini in a winning position at the Giro dell'Emilia Internazionale Donne, and the work payed off as the veteran took another high-level win.

The women's race featured only one ascent, with the rest of the profile pan-flat. This meant the differences were all to be made within the climb to the Santuario di San Luca. Longo Borghini was the strongest, managing to create the difference towards the finale, taking the win in front of Veronica Ewers and Sofia Bertizzolo.

Later this afternoon the men will also finish the Italian race, with some of the world's best climbers and puncheurs at the start for a very complicated hilly final circuit.
