Pogacar is sitting on the couch and is dying of laughter. He found out that he will win Flanders and Roubaix solo and the Tour will be won... by no one within 10 minutes... ha ha ha ha ha ha ...

I don't think this race lets us see his form, because he raced based on tactics, not to win. Wout Van Aert commented on this, that Van der Poel never pulled quite hard enough. He was trying to get caught, because Philipsen had a better chance of winning than he did sprinting against a more fresh Van Aert. Also, one of the reasons that Vingegaard, Pogacar, Pederson, Van der Poel, and others are superstars is that they recover quickly.

Pogacar is the greatest already, by far. In Eddy Merckx’s era, it was a different time. Now, everything is so concentrated. You are either a Tour de France rider, or you are a Classics rider or you are a sprinter. He can do everything. Literally everything. Merckx could as well, but that was in an era when everyone was doing everything. This guy is going against Tour de France specialists, he goes against the best Classics guys. Not just the best now, but the best in a long time, like Mathieu van der Poel, and he is putting them to bed. Ad acta!!! "For me, he is the best rider who has ever lived a long, long way. I don’t think we are ever going to see someone like him again, not in my lifetime for sure."

CORRECTION: Pogi is the greatest ever. Merckx is 2nd. Hinault cannot match the Palmares on the one day monuments, WCs etc. Capish?

The old farts will never admit... they will never acknowledge the truth, that Pogi is the GOAT. Ad acta!!!

"Pogacar would have lost both to Van der Poel and Van Aert”... said Paolo Bettini!?!? What a fool. His words mean nothing... zero. IF...IF...IF...IF. IF the world was flat, he would fall off into the dark. Why don't people like that just shut up.

MvDP has not been as dominant in the last two races. He was almost caught in E3 Saxo Classic and was swallowed up by the Peloton in Middelkerke - Wevelgem. He's done too many races in a short time. My guess is that he will run out of gas trying to keep up with Pogacar who is well rested and ready to go !!

Different times indeed. In 1975 the traditional cycling nations of Belgium, Netherlands, France, Spain, and Italy represented 45 out of the top 50 riders. In 2025 those same nations contributed just 21 of the top 50. In 1975 only 9 nations had any riders in the top 50, in 3025 there were 22 nations with riders in the top 50

The Volta would have been way more interesting if the Vallter 2000 summit finish was there. There is only one team at fault - Bahrain-Victorious. They did not send Attila Valter, who'd have been a top notch mountain domestique for Lenny Martinez No Valter = No Vallter

I'm not saying that Jonas's defensive riding was a bad thing, but: Stage 1- controlled on the descent and didn't contest the sprint "I'm not going to risk life and limb to go for the win" Stage 3- refused to work with Evenepoel and passed on the opportunity of the stage win Stage 5- attacked and dropped everyone (nothing to say there) Stage 6- attacked on the final climb but not before (the race would've been more selective if he had) Stage 7- rode defensively, marking attacks and not doing much himself. Nothing wrong with that, but Evenepoel and Red Bull could have got more success if Vingegaard was more aggressive. And Vingegaard wouldn't have lost anything that he achieved with his defensive riding. A harder race could've seen Florian Lipowitz drop Lenny Martinez to finish 2nd and Remco Evenepoel take two stage wins (3 and 7) while Vingegaard wouldn't lose anything.
