- Pog has the advantage of what he did last year, it’s up to Vin to prove himself this year so yes, he’s wise to avoid the Giro.
If he wins the first, the 2nd is irrelevant or a cherry on the cake. If he doesn’t it will be a consolation prize. Giro is also risky for other reasons if TdF is main objective.
2 angles not discussed by them obviously are also how to have managed a Giro with WVA and him with a WVA having personal goals and also expecting (rightfully) some consideration. Second is maybe JV feels some “revenge” is in order for having to take 2nd at 2023 Vuelta?
- I'm so so sorry to read this news report. Her brother and the rest of her family will be devastated.
- An extremely eloquent subtle way of saying we were both desperate ;-)
What was it Presley sang? Wise men say….
- I think what a lot of people don’t want to think about, is the reason JR and his company invest in sport in the first place. Sport is not the priority, winning in sport isn’t even or they’d be exercising more pressure after years of underperforming in just about every domain. The investment in sport is being used as a tool, some would say just a marketing tool to get the brand (which basically started from zero in domains not too followed by the general public) recognisable for later sales when more consumer oriented products hit the market. I would add, cynically but also realistically, that there’s also an intention of preemptive washing, sone oil nations were a little late to that game snd irreparable damage was already done to their reputations. JR is basically in the same/similar businesses and uses sport to build up credit against any negative coverage of business matters and for their sports fans, that’s enough to ignore downsides.
- Wow, didn’t realise the age was that high. Wonder who has the longest career span between first and last win.
Good for us oldies to get motivated :-)
- Like I said, if Jonas comes in good health he's going to be tough to beat. I have yet to analyze the 2025 course but I will soon and that will give me a better idea about who will have the edge.
- Nice to see someone who doesn’t consider her job to be life’s priority.
Good for her, good for racing
- I think if you're dead serious about winning the TDF, Pogacar is currently the only rider who can take the risk of also doing the Giro first.
- Looked like Narváez wasn't very happy about something. Did he get boxed in?
- Always great to see legends of the past take it to the young guns. Mancebo is such a champion. Would love to see guys such as Alejandro Valverde or Riccardo Ricco give it a go and school some youngsters!
