- There’s always a butthurt Lance fan in the comments.
- Like, on the last mountain stage of the race? Yeah, they finally started riding for him. Before that, he almost had his hands tied sitting in the group while Vingegaard attacked everyone else and got time back.
- God forbid people don't get along perfectly with every single person at their place of work.
- Which is a good thing but riders need to take as good as they give.
- If Lipowitz is not taking 2nd or 3rd...Del Torro very well could. Again, Jonas after doing the Giro with a "B Team" in support vs a full strength Lipowitz or Del Torro (to name 2) is not going to stay with them by week 3 if not sooner
- While I agree that we like friendly rivals - I mean, who didn't get a little misty when MVDP congratulated Wout at Roubaix? - I think that what drives sport even more is heated rivals. Mercx, Hinault, Armstrong, Boonen, and many other champions have been famously fierce. We can debate where Pog is on that scale, but he is ruthless when he needs to be.
- Absolutely. No one wants cheaters or dirty players, but intimidation, trash talk, and all that are built right into sports at almost all levels.
- Of course there's nothing really wrong with it, they are competing against each other, psychological warfare is part of it.
But in practice more graceful riders are far more respected - look at Wally - and others less so.
- Good call and that applies to all riders no? They are all allowed to do everything they can do [within the rules] to win or to help their team win.
- Never saw one but don’t ride in Germany and the Germans I know seem to prefer the PNS slogan :-)
