Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team will be losing
Zdenek Stybar this winter, as the veteran classics specialist did not have his contract renewed and will move to a different team. A possible contender has emerged in
Team BikeExchange - Jayco.
Stybar hasn't until today been heavily hinted at any team, but according to a report from VeloNews, he may be on his way out towards Team BikeExchange - Jayco. The Australian team lacks a true block for the cobbled classics, and in there the Czech rider could find freedom to chase his own results, and also support upcoming riders in the terrain, in an attempt to boos the overall level of the team in the terrain.
Stybar has for the past year suffered with health complications, but returned to form in August to almost capture a stage win at the Tour de Pologne, and to finish second in the Tour of Leuven. The 36-year old is a veteran on the rugged terrain of the Benelux, with his most recent wins coming in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the E3 Saxo Bank Classic in 2019.
Last season Stybar rode to a seventh place in the Leuven World Championships, showing his capacity to still ride with the very best in the terrain.
