Adam Yates heavily linked to UAE Team Emirates who look to expand climbing block

UAE Team Emirates is one of the teams currently hosting the strongest climbers in the peloton, but they may not be finished yet, as a recent report suggests a deal between the UAE team and Adam Yates may be very close to being agreed.

In conversation with Velonews, team manager Maurio Gianetti has said that “yes we are discussing with him, like I think, other teams". This further deepened the possibility of the Briton joining UAE, a team currently hosting three young Grand Tour specialists in Tadej Pogacar, João Almeida and Tadej Pogacar. Yates' presence would bring further firepower for the team's mountain block, matching the likes of Jumbo-Visma and INEOS Grenadiers, whilst simultaneously expanding the gap to teams of smaller caliber in this terrain.

The report also mentioned the interest from both Team BikeExchange - Jayco, his former team and current squad of twin brother Simon, and B&B Hotels - KTM who are having a bigger budget for the coming season and are on the hunt for new leaders, such as Mark Cavendish, but Yates too.

The 30-year has just left Canada where he finished seventh and fourth in the GP de Québec and GP de Montréal respectively. He's won the Deutschland Tour last month, and like several of INEOS Grenadiers' climbers, he is building a successful road onto Il Lombardia where the team will be aiming high.
