As the riders enter December and the start of the season comes near, most will have already planned their first full team training camp. These are often vital parts of the season, one of the rare moments where all riders and staff are together at the same time. They have all chosen the eastern coast of Spain to have their camps.
With focus in long aerobic rides, building blocks, training leadouts and working on a lot of logistics senses of cycling, alongside a lot of media work, it is the first big highlight of the road cycling season. Teams often choose locations with good weather and roads for this early-season training, and all 18 World Tour teams will be in the Alicante coast or nearby for a week or two throughout December, mostly before Christmas.
A report from Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed the locations in which the 18 teams will host their camps soon. Surprisingly, all have chosen virtually the same location. Whilst EF Education-EasyPost and Movistar Team have steered somewhat clear of the Alicante coast, instead riding in Girona and Almeria respectively, and INEOS Grenadiers alongside BORA - hansgrohe choosing Mallorca, all other teams will be bunched up in a very narrow area.
It will be in the towns of Denia, Calpe and Altea where the grand majority will be hosted. 10 World Tour teams will be in these towns specifically, whilst three others will be positioned in towns that border them. In the image below you can inspect in a map the exact location of where all teams will be present this coming month - with ProTeam and some continental teams also expected.
