Florian Vermeersch takes on winter cyclocross - "It's purely in preparation for the road season"

According to Het Laatste NieuwsLotto-Dstny rider, Florian Vermeersch will return to cyclocross races this winter. He last participated in cyclocross in December 2020.

"I'm going to ride five cyclo-crosses, but don't expect much from it. It's purely in preparation for the road season," Vermeersch told HLN. He will not compete for the podium but purely for training purposes only. "My trainer thinks it fits into my schedule just fine. It's good for intensity, and in a race, you can go deep more easily than in training. In late December and early January, I'm going to ride five cross-country races," said Vermeersch.

Vermeersch has not revealed the names of races he is going to take part in, for the time being, he will ride alone but wants Brent Van Moer to join him as a teammate. "For now I won't be joined by a teammate, but I'm trying to convince Brent Van Moer to start in Mol. For now he doesn't want to bite yet," concluded Vermeersch.
