The new UCI points update as came, adding the points all teams brought in from 25th of April to the 8th of May. This period of time included the Tour de Romandie, Eschborn-Frankfurt and the 4 Jours du Dunkerque as the main races, as the peloton also embarked on the Giro d'Italia which is set to change the standings in a few weeks' time.
With the update from Raúl Banqueri, the new standings reveal Lotto Soudal coming closer to Israel - Premier Tech, although both teams sit below the red line when it comes to their maintenance goal. Both teams sit around 1000 points behind Team BikeExchange - Jayco, who will be hoping Simon Yates can bring in many points from the overall classification at the end of his stint in Italy.
Nothing much has changed in the bottom, as the large distribution of points fall to the top teams. Simon Geschke's second place at the Tour de Romandie brought the French team an important amount of points, seeing them rise to 17th place. The same way, Philippe Gilbert's win at the 4 Jours du Dunkerque brought an unexpected lift to Lotto Soudal's chances of maintaining.
Although with an initial lead, EF Education-EasyPost and Team DSM were the lower-scoring teams, and slowly see their lead chopped up. As for the wildcard situation, Israel - Premier Tech remain in third position out of the preliminary Pro Teams as TotalEnergies show no signs of slowing down on a good season.
