Tour de France winners switch Shimano for SRAM in 2023

Jumbo-Visma have had an incredibly successful 2022 season, but promise even more into 2023 as they not only carry a set of leaders in Wout van Aert, Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic, but also young talents and very complete domestiques. However, they will be making a change, as they will be switching groupsets.

Although possibly minimal or non-existing, the beliefs of there being a difference between groupsets quickly caught steam over social media. The Dutch team, who have in recent years ridden Shimano - aswell as a majority of the World Tour peloton - will be switching towards SRAM.

Trek-Segafredo and Movistar already ride SRAM, famously however with occasional equipment complains from some of it's riders - Bauke Mollema more specifically a few years back.

The change is unlikely to be significant, however it is a clear move from the brand to try and take their share of credit for the likely successes that Jumbo-Visma is planning on taking in the coming season.

Over social media there have been some evidence of surprise. Former pro Phil Gaimon has argued that "I don’t think anyone is riding sram unless they’re paid to, or forced by their bike sponsor," an opinion that has been shared by some.
