"Today he made a lot of tactical mistakes" - BORA - hansgrohe reflect on Primoz Roglic's quiet conclusion to Paris-Nice 2024

Big things were expected from Primoz Roglic's first race in the green of BORA - hansgrohe at Paris-Nice 2024. Sadly for the Slovenian and his fans however, he was unable to mount a GC challenge.
“We knew a lot was going to happen today," BORA - hansgrohe's sports director, Patxi Vila reflects in his post-race interview, with the team being led home by Aleksandr Vlasov rather than Roglic. "We therefore raced aggressively. We did well. At the decisive moment we had two riders in the leading group: Roglic and Vlasov. When Remco Evenepoel and Matteo Jorgenson left, only Vlasov could join.”
Whilst Vlasov took third on the stage, rising to 5th in the general classification, Roglic was absent from the head of the race in the finale, eventually finishing 10th overall. “With Roglic we still had someone as a backup . However, he didn't have his best days this week. We wanted to reach the final podium today, but in the end Vlasov was too tired. He did show how good he was," Vila assesses.
"Roglic did that too, but today he made a lot of tactical mistakes. That cost him a lot of time. He had it in him to be at the front,” Vila concludes. “We will ultimately go home with a fifth place in the final classification and a stage victory. That's good, but not what we expected.”

- "I think they forgot last year, and when Jonas was injured," and I think you forgot 2023 L-B-L, when Tadej was injured and had to improvise a training without bike. Tadej only could riding a "normal" bike again only 2 weeks before the Tour. That TT he couldn't knowing well at all.
maria2024202407-05-2025 - It's unfortunate a rider of his caliber hasn't won the Tour de France and I can't fault him for trying, in fact, I respect it. But he never will win the Tour as long as Tadej and Jonas are in the peloton, and we might as well add Remco to that list as he is the youngest and seems to be coming up quickly behind Tadej and Jonas. I hope Primoz can capture another Giro and maybe another Vuelta before he calls it a day.awp07-05-2025
- "He breaks the conventions we once held", yeah, Tadej es disruptive, unique. Perhaps because he doesn't come from a family/country with tradition in cycling, so the "laws" of cycling were unknown to him and he was just looking/seeking to have fun. I was a big Primoz fan until last Vuelta when he attacked Sepp Kuss - karma, Primoz, karma.
Good chance he is spanked at Le Tour this year, not even top 10
But Jonas attacked first, day earlier... Och, or maybe this victory didn't count as an attack on Kuss because he was riding 'for Nathan'?
What tactical mistakes were made? Just did not seem to be physically up to the challenge this week. Or unless not ensuring he kept himself warm is considered a tactical mistake.
Hope this is just a glitch and Primoz will be at his peak in July.
