Milan Menten blames Filippo Ganna for unsuccessful sprint: "He went through the bend like an old man"

At Lotto-Dstny they are betting on Milan Menten in the bunch sprints. The Belgian team, already successful in stage two with a stage victory by Andreas Kron, did not get further than fourth place in fourth stage to Tarragona.

"At three hundred meters before the last bend I was in the ideal position," Menten told Het Nieuwsblad.

Just before that last corner, the sprinter caught sight of Filippo Ganna, the Italian who sprinted to second place in the previous bunch sprint on Wednesday. "I jumped to his wheel, thinking he would go full out. Unfortunately, he went through the bend like an old man, really full on the brakes. Everyone passed it on the left and the sprint was over."

In addition, Menten spoke about the maneuvers of his colleagues, which he was not pleased with. "The riders are just dangerous," says Menten. "Everyone is crazy. INEOS, Jumbo… Jonas Vingegaard was quacking to life and death. Then I wonder why? Those classification men make it extra dangerous. At three kilometers they stop pedaling and then they completely fall through."
