Sixth on Monday, fourth today. Olav Kooij also seemed toothless in the second sprint stage of the Giro d'Italia, but his team Visma | Lease a Bike is optimistic about the coming sprint stages, with next opportunity awaiting on Wednesday.
"We started riding on the long climb Colle del Melogno. The leading group was five minutes ahead of the peloton, but Jan Tratnik did a great job to make up for it during the climb," sports director Marc Reef commented on team's website after the stage.

Reef was certainly not dissatisfied with the final. "In terms of positioning, we did better than yesterday. Edoardo Affini and Tim van Dijke ensured that Olav and Christophe were in an excellent position on the Capo Mele. Olav was launched at the right time by Christophe, but he was beaten. I already saw several improvements compared to Monday's stage. On to tomorrow, where a new sprint opportunity awaits us."
