The new UCI points ranking has revealed further evolution with the Giro d'Italia coming to an end, and it is showing the relative moves at the bottom of the ranking which puts some teams in danger of relegation as Lotto Soudal is netting some points in the domestic calendar.
According to Raúl Banqueri's new update, Lotto Soudal is now only 750 points behind EF Education-EasyPost as they have ridden a strong semi-classics campaign with Arnaud de Lie being the headliner. EF Education have gathered some points from Hugh Carthy's tenth place at the Giro d'Italia, however they've continued to loose ground on the Belgian team.
Team BikeExchange - Jayco sit only 86 points ahead of the American Team [as of 30th May] as, despite three stage wins, Simon Yates' abandon at the Giro meant the expected arrival of points did not come. Israel - Premier Tech have also struggled to get points, and now sit almost 1300 points down on EF Education - putting them in an extremely dangerous position with no signs of turning it around.
In the battle for the automatic wildcards, TotalEnergies have lost their first place in the season rankings to Lotto Soudal, however due to Julien Simon's rebirth in the classics in which he won the GP du Morbihan and the Tour du Finistère. The team is already 1500 points ahead of Israel - Premier Tech - being close to certain that both these teams will be riding at Pro Team level next year.

The Giro has distributed almost 10000 UCI points among the participants, but the smaller races have been more relevant in the relegation battle. Lotto Soudal and Cofidis have scored more on the continental circuit than 18 of the 22 teams in the entire Giro. Full explanation 👇
