"He is one of the greatest talents for a reason and he showed that today" - Attila Valter proud of his young teammate Cian Uijtdebroeks

The Sunday didn't take off well for Visma | Lease a Bike who lost Robert Gesink who did not start to stage 2 after a crash the previous day. Luckily Cian Uijtdebroeks was able to raise the Dutch team's flat on an ascent to Santuario di Oropa while supported by Attila Valter, among others.

"I was able to follow the final via the radio. I am very proud of him, because after Catalunya he received a lot of criticism. If you are as good as him, and then you are attacked like this after a bad race..." Valter returned to the Spanish stage race in an interview afterwards.

"He is one of the greatest talents for a reason and he showed that today. I am very happy that we have him in the team. I look forward to supporting him in the future, because I think he will be a big factor in the rankings," said the Hungarian.

Uijtdebroeks currently sits fifth overall with 54-second margin to overall leader Tadej Pogacar. Meanwhile the 21-year-old Belgian took over the Youth classification, where he'll be defending a 44 seconds lead against Alex Baudin.
