With just two stages in the legs, Tadej Pogacar is already in firm control of the Maglia Rosa at the 2024 Giro d'Italia, after the UAE Team Emirates leader powered to a comprehensive solo win on stage 2.
Surviving a mechanical, plus a crash right before the start of the final climb, Pogacar roared back to the front of the main group and with around 4km to go, attacked clear. Although Ben O'Connor and Geraint Thomas attempted to follow, Pogacar was all alone with a few pedal strokes and eventually crossed the line solo 27 seconds clear of his nearest rivals.
