Geraint Thomas has timed his preparation towards the Giro d'Italia to perfection. He hasn't been able to bring home the victory from the Corsa Rosa, however after some much deserved rest he now starts to put into action his plan for the second half of the season which includes a return to the
national championships.
"I'm really excited to get back to the national championships, which will be my first time for road racing in about ten years," Thomas said recently. "It is a tough course, which will make it a difficult race," The Welshman last raced them in 2018, as most years he puts his full focus into the preparation towards the Tour de France - or was healing injuries from the Giro.
This year however it fits his overall plan, and his return to racing will be there. Remco Evenepoel returns to the peloton at the upcoming Tour de Suisse whilst it is expected that Primoz Roglic will do the same. “In any case, it will be nice to race again after finishing the Giro. I can't wait to be there," he concluded.
