Mavi Garcia’s Tour de France Femmes is not going according to plans. The Spanish champion’ met with one unfortunate accident after another. She finished 33rd in today’s stage.
Garcia had two mechanical issues along the way, First, she had to exchange bikes with her teammate, and then she had to face a puncture . She lost some crucial minutes she could have used to chase the breakaway.
But her problems did not stop there. Just 13 kilometers before the finish line she crashed with her team’s car, the rear wheel hit the bumper of the car, and she fell hard onto the road.
She finished 3 minutes and 11 seconds behind winner Marlen Reusser. She has slipped to 11th position in GC from her previous rank of 7th.
