Marlen Reusser secures victory in fourth stage of Tour de France Femmes

Marlen Reusser has won the fourth stage of Tour de France Femmes. She launched an early attack and maintained her lead till the finish line.

Laura Asencio (Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling), Valerie Demey (Liv Racing Xstra), and Coralie Demay (St Michel-Auber 93) took the lead early in the stage. 70 kilometers before the finish line, they managed to extend their lead to 2 minutes and 24 seconds.

Mavi Garcia faced mechanical issues, and she had to exchange bikes with her teammate and then once again faced a puncture 18 kilometers before the finish line. Garcia then met with yet another unfortunate accident, she crashed with her team’s car. Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM) also faced some mechanical issues later, resulting in time loss.

Marlen Reusser (SD Worx) launched a solo attack 20 kilometers before the finish line and took a lead of 30 seconds. It increased to 1 minute and 4 seconds in the final kilometers. Muzik, Amialiusik, and Ewers launched a counterattack against Reusser but it was too late . Reusser crossed the finish line solo to secure her first stage victory in the tour. Évita Muzic finished second. Alena Amialiusik secured bronze. Marianne Vos continues to lead in GC.
