Video: Mathieu van der Poel's explosive attack on the Taaienberg

The E3 Saxo Classic sees a lot of explosive terrain as the riders race through the same roads as in the Tour des Flandrs. One of the bergs is the Taaienberg, which Mathieu van der Poel exploded during this race.

With Dries de Bondt having attacked previously, Alpecin-Deceuninck tried to anticipate the attacks of rider teams, with van der Poel himself attacking up the Taaienberg with 80 kilometers to go. The all-out attack saw only Wout van Aert be able to respond. However after some kilometers the duo was reeled back in by the main group.
