On the 11th of May, 2022, gravel rider Moriah Wilson was tragically found dead prior to that year's Gravel Locos in which she was heavily favoured to win. The individual police believe murdered her is Kaitlin Armstrong.
Armstrong, now having been formally charged with first-degree murder, attempted to make a break for freedom on Wednesday morning. According to a report from US media outlet KXAN, the 35-year-old made an attempt to escape from police custody on Wednesday morning, running away from officers whilst leaving a medical office building.
Managing to escape for only around 10 minutes, Armstrong was quickly re-apprehended by police and is set to face trial for the murder of Wilson on October 30th in Austin, Texas.
"A great wrong was done here. The killer needs to be held accountable. But Kaitlin Armstrong is not guilty," said her defence attorney in an interview with NBC although police alledge Armstrong, Wilson and fellow gravel pro Colin Strickland were caught up in a complicated and complex love triangle that ultimately cost Wilson her life.
