"My helmet is destroyed but thankfully did its job" - Tao Geoghegan Hart updates on his health state after scary Vuelta a Burgos crash

Tao Geoghegan Hart was one of the main victims of the mass crash during the second stage of Vuelta a Burgos, where many star riders met their end in the five-day stage races.

"Thanks for the messages of concern. Sad for the team that despite perfect positioning we couldn’t avoid this. I landed directly on my head and with some dizziness decided it was not wise for myself or others to continue," Geoghegan Hart updates about his health state in X post. He continues by wishing well to everyone else involved the crash. "Hope those in hospital are ok."

Luckily there are don't seem to be any major consequences for the Brit, who hit his head quite hard. "My helmet is destroyed but thankfully did its job. None the less we will asses my head again in the coming hours and days."

The 28-year-old had been planning to lead Lidl-Trek at the Tour de France however a streak of injuries and illness prevented him from doing so, shifting focus towards the Vuelta a Espana. However now even this back-up plan seems to be in the danger as it's known even a minor concussion can turn rider's season upside down. Hopefully the former Giro d'Italia winner will be able to return in his best shape for the Spanish grand tour.
