Soudal-Quick Step is having a great season, but that doesn't mean their riders are immune to health problems. The Belgian team has announced that Mauri Vansevenant will have to undergo surgery and will be unable to ride for a period of time.
Vansevenant has been diagnosed with knee syndrome and is scheduled for surgery this Wednesday, which will take six weeks to recover from. As a consequence, Vansevenant won't be present at the start line of the Coppi e Bartali competition, and Martin Svrcek will replace him.
“The tests have shown that he suffers from pre-patellar friction syndrome. This means that Mauri will undergo surgery in Herentals next Wednesday and will have to recover for six weeks,” read the statement shared on social media.
