Regardless of how strong and how good a temamate he is, he remains a human being and cannot ignore the consequences of a rib fracture. While broken ribs typically heal on their own within a few weeks, engaging in cycling, which involve movement and strain on the ribcage, can hinder the healing process. With a rib fracture he can not help Pogacar anyway. Thus a responsible UAE chief would take João out of the race for João's own safe.

He's so strong and such a good teammate. He can bring back almost any attack by just raising the tempo. Hoping he feels better by Monday so he can show his class in the mountains.

The poor guy has most likely left the Tour if not tomorrow, then within af few days. Yes I have cracked a rib, and it can be as painfull just to bend a rib.

Ever crack a rib? It all depends on which one (s)- it can hurt or it can't.

Every time I read something from PharmStrong I regret I did. I know- it's my own fault.

Agreed. These stages are being raced like classics.

Please stop giving Lance Armstrong a platform. Allowing him to gain anything whatsoever from cycling only devalues your own brand's validity.

João Almeida has broken a rib and the UAE team just say he will continue the race. While he may continue, he will be worthless in the mountains and no help to Pogacar.
