Marianne Vos' season is over after femoral artery surgery: ""My biggest hope for now is to be able to return to competition without symptoms"

Marianne Vos announced on her Instagram that she has ended her 2023 season. The all-rounder of Jumbo-Visma had to undergo surgery on her left femoral artery after she had been suffering from a problem for a long time.

"After a few days in the hospital, I am currently back home to start a careful recovery and rehabilitation program of ten weeks," Vos said. "Obviously this means the end of my 2023 season. I have been struggling with pain and lack of strength in my left leg for a long time. This season the symptoms only got worse."

"My biggest hope for now is to be able to return to competition without symptoms," said the Dutchwoman. "I would like to continue racing at the highest level and will certainly do my utmost to come back. I want to thank everyone for the support," she concludes.

Vos finished third at the National Road Championships this season and won two stages in the Vuelta. In the Tour and Giro she narrowly missed out on stage victories.
