On a day in which the reigning Giro d'Italia champion ended months of speculation by confirming his imminent departure from
Jumbo-Visma, Roglic ensured that at least of the headlines would be for his on-bike performances as a late attack destroyed a very high-quality field that included the likes of
Tadej Pogacar and
Simon Yates.
“It was super tough. I went for it and I had the legs to finish it,” said Roglic, who dedicated the victory to his family. “They always support me. In the good times, but also especially in the bad times. They are not there now, but they always cheer for me.”
