“They always support me. In the good times, but also especially in the bad times" - Primoz Roglic dedicates Giro dell'Emilia victory to his family

For the third time in his career, Primoz Roglic has triumphed at the Giro dell'Emilia. Speaking after his win, the Slovenian thanked his family for their support over what has been a tumultuous period.

“This is very nice. It is an old, iconic race, with the climb of San Luca,” analysed Roglic in his post-race interview. “I like it, I love it. And it's always nice to finish it. Moreover, I love Mortadella!" Laughed the 33-year-old.

On a day in which the reigning Giro d'Italia champion ended months of speculation by confirming his imminent departure from Jumbo-Visma, Roglic ensured that at least of the headlines would be for his on-bike performances as a late attack destroyed a very high-quality field that included the likes of Tadej Pogacar and Simon Yates.

“It was super tough. I went for it and I had the legs to finish it,” said Roglic, who dedicated the victory to his family. “They always support me. In the good times, but also especially in the bad times. They are not there now, but they always cheer for me.”
