It has been rumoured for a long time but prior to the start of the Giro dell'Emilia, Primoz Roglic confirmed that he will be leaving Jumbo-Visma. Although he was keeping relatively quiet pre-race, he opened up a bit further after the race.
"My personal goals and how everything is going... Together we decided to end it this way," the 33-year-old Slovenian told In de Leiderstrui post-race, clarifying just why he and Jumbo-Visma have decided to part ways. "That's better for both parties, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to new challenges."
In one of his final races for the Jumbo-Visma team, Roglic showed what they will be missing in 2024 as he powered to a sublime third Giro dell'Emilia victory after a brutal attack on the final climb that not even Tadej Pogacar could live with.
"Of course it's special. We have achieved so much together. But things also stay the same, heh!" he says with a smile. "There was little different towards the Italian autumn and I am here to do my job as best as possible. I will also do that in the next races, that is my focus now."
