It is official. From the mouth of the Slovenian superstar himself, Primoz Roglic will leave Jumbo-Visma in the coming days, the only question now is where will he end up?
Speaking prior to the Giro dell'Emilia, Roglic confirmed the speculation that he had indeed agreed with Jumbo-Visma that a departure would be best for both parties. "I can definitely confirm that I will leave the team," Roglic announced. "But we want to tell all the details only after all the races that I have to do, so I stay focused on the racing."
According to GCN, an unnamed team boss has revealed that Roglic could be set for one of the top contracts in the entirety of the peloton. “He has received a huge offer beyond all expectations," the anonymous boss believes. "Probably getting close to Pogačar."
Roglic's Slovenian compatriot, Tadej Pogacar is currently the highest-paid rider, earning a reported salary of over €6.3 million per year and if Roglic is indeed anywhere near those kinds of numbers it would mark a massive pay increase.
The team boss further explains that Roglic's new contract with his as-yet-unknown new employers will be a three-year deal worth over €6 million per season.
But which team could offer that kind of money to Roglic? The likes of the INEOS Grenadiers, Israel - Premier Tech, BORA - hansgrohe, Lidl-Trek, Bahrain - Victorious, Movistar Team and Team Jayco AlUla have all been linked with the Giro d'Italia winner. We will soon find out who has won the race!
