As every day, Lance Armstrong analyzed in the Youtube channel The Move with George Hincapie the last stage of the Tour de France, in this case the 12th, which ended with Ion Izagirre's victory, and he has frowned upon Tadej Pogacar's sprint finale.
During the show, they highlighted the great work being done by the Cofidis team in this Tour de France after several years of continuous failures and Armstrong recalled that it is one of the most loyal companies in cycling, since it appeared in the peloton back in 1997, just when he had just overcome his cancer.
Beyond the praise for Izagirre, Guillaume Martin and Cofidis, Lance Armstrong blasted Tadej Pogacar for sprinting as he rode into the Belleville-en-Beoujolais finish line to finish twelfth in the stage behind Maxim Van Gils: "Pogacar sprinted and that's something I don't understand, there was no reason."
Hincapie agreed with him: "Why is he doing that? Especially when last year he also did it in similar sprints to fight for ninth or tenth. You have to save as much energy as possible, it's the Tour de France, now comes a very hard week."
They interviewed Matteo Jorgenson, who came close to victory but had to settle for third place. The American rider gave his feelings from the Movistar Team bus and explained the strategy he follows to get into the breakaways:
"I'm fine, I had very good legs, but I couldn't go alone as I should have done. Today (yesterday) you had to do it when the road got hard, you couldn't go on the flat part, you have to be well positioned, you have to go when you feel it's the right time and on the right wheel. There are 7 of us in the team looking for the breakaways, something that makes it easier for us to get in because we're all going for the same thing and we don't have to watch so many wheels."
