Steff Cras seemed to be the Belgian with best views to compete for a top ten finish at Tour de France, but a nasty fall in the eighth stage immediately ended his race. Cras had to give up and shift his focus towards La Vuelta.
That message went viral and Cras received a lot of reactions. "I want to thank everyone for the messages I have received in recent days," he says now. "It means a lot to me and my family. Together with my team, I have now decided to take some time to recover and then work towards my next goal: La Vuelta."
Cras had not yet heard from the person in the audience who caused his fall. Mikel Landa (Bahrain Victorious) and Simon Yates (Jayco AlUla) were also involved in the crash, but they were both able to continue on their way.
