Lidl-Trek have had a spectacular Tour de France and this week alone Mads Pedersen has for example won the Tour of Denmark and BEMER Cyclassics. Tremendous success in some races, it's unlikely that they'll reach the same as they bring a modest lineup to the Vuelta a Espana, however there is a lot of potential to chase a stage win.
With Skjelmose, Ciccone and Skjelmose sidelined from the final Grand Tour of the season, the team focuses not on it's traditional leaders but gives freedom to other figures. Edward Theuns will be eyeing the sprints most likely, Jacopo Mosca and Otto Vergaerde will play a supporting role whilst most likely also chasing a few breakaways and hoping for luck on the flat days.
The hills and mountains are where the American squad look to strike however. Kenny Elissonde and Juan Pedro López will be well suited to the wide array of stages that feature brutally steep climbs. Bauke Mollema, Julien Bernard and Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier add for more firepower when the roads go uphill, and with the specific focus they can net a stage win and fight for the KOM classification.
