Jonas Vingegaard delighted to put on a show: "It keeps getting better and better for the spectators!"

The 2023 edition of the Tour de France has been a race for the ages so far and with 15 stages now in the legs the wearer of the Maillot Jaune by the time we get to Paris is still no closer to being decided.

Jonas Vingegaard, the winner of last year's race is the current holder of the Yellow Jersey, leading his arch-rival Tadej Pogacar by just 10 seconds as the race reaches its second rest day. "It has been yet another battle between the two of us," said the Dane in his post-stage interview. "I guess it keeps getting better and better for the spectators!"

There was absolutely nothing to separate the pair on stage 15 despite a frantic fight up the final climb of the day. "The team felt pretty good today, although we of course had this crash that affected some of my teammates. I hope everyone involved is well," the Jumbo-Visma leader recaps. "Today I felt more in control than in previous days. We can be happy about the stage."

Finally, Vingegaard had a message for the thousands of fans that flock to the roadside after one such individual caused a mass crash earlier in the day, trying to take a selfie. "I’d like to tell the spectators to enjoy the race and be there to cheer for us without standing on the road or pouring beers on us. Please, just enjoy the race. I’m happy there is a rest day coming. It will be very good for the legs. What will I do? Just chill and relax!"
