Alexey Lutsenko won the Tour of Turkey whilst the final stage into Istambul had an exciting finale, where Jasper Philipsen sprinted to his fourth and final win of the week.
The breakaway of the day featured three riders and it was an entertaining one. Jay Vine had dreams of a second consecutive win and set off on the front of the race, joined by Jakub Murias and Mauro Verwilt.
The Australian ended up going solo in the final circuit inside Istambul. He put on a strong effort but did not have the terrain to hold off the peloton, Mark Cavendish himself reeled in the final escapee with 10 kilometers to go. The leadout battle began soon then, Alpecin-Deceuninck entered the very technical and narrow finale which had gradients featured.
Matteo Moschetti attacked at the base of the climb, Astana then rode a tactical move with Gazzoli hitting the front but Jasper Philipsen was alive to the occasion. The Italian led out the sprint but head-to-head the Belgian had the upper hand and beat Cees Bol to the line. Giovanni Lonardi rode to third.
