In miserable, cold, wet and windy Belgian conditions, Jarne Van de Paar has taken victory at GP Jean-Pierre Monseré this Sunday afternoon.
With Hartthijs de Vries of TDT - Unibet Cycling Team a lone leader for much of the day, the chase of the peloton was momentarily halted around 35km out by a massive crash. Although it wasn't initially clear who was involved, a few moments later, one of the pre-race favourites, Arne Marit was caught by cameras languishing off the back of the peloton.
Heading into the final 10km though, de Vries had been caught and a group of around 30 riders faced the finale. With a bunch sprint deciding the day, it was Lotto Dstny's Jarne Van de Paar who took the win ahead of Timothy Dupont and David Dekker.
