Hometown of Tadej Pogacar turned pink in celebration of Slovenian hero's Giro d'Italia win

Tadej Pogacar has conquered the 2024 Giro d'Italia and by some margin too. Taking overall victory by nearly ten minutes from his nearest rival, Daniel Martinez, the UAE Team Emirates leader also secured back-to-back Slovenian wins of the Maglia Rosa.

In celebration of their hometown hero's latest feat of excellence, the Slovenian towns of Komenda and Klanec has been turned pink for Pogacar. The 25-year-old hails from the area and as such, his Giro d'Italia victory and the manner of said win has touched the town, leading to big celebrations of his performances and overall victory.

Taking six stage wins, the Slovenian faithful have had plenty of reasons to celebrate over the last three weeks, most recently on Saturday afternoon when near to the border at the mythical climb of Monte Grappa, Pogacar put down the latest display of his dominance to add a sixth stage win to his palmares and confirm beyond any and all doubt that there is no one better than the UAE Team Emirates leader at the 2024 Giro d'Italia.

On the Monte Grappa, Slovenian fans came out in full force to support their hero was thousands of supporters packing the climb. Now, back in Pogacar's hometown pink street signs, pink roundabouts, pink paint and pink balloons have taken over with the entire town set to be glued to their TV screens as the Maglia Rosa rolls into Rome later this afternoon and picks up his first Grand Tour victory in nearly three years on the final podium.
