When asked what he's learned so far, Magnier is clear. “How to do the sprint! Find the sprint train and know exactly where I need to start going," he answers. "The knowledge of the sport directors and the other riders is also really something that we try to soak up at every race. It’s really an incredible honour to be amongst this group of very talented and passionate people on and off the bike.”
One of those riders who Magnier now rides alongside is one of his childhood idols, fellow Frenchman and Soudal - Quick-Step stalwart,
Julian Alaphilippe. “Growing up, he was the rider I always watched on TV and I was fascinated by what he was doing in a race, no matter the race, winning with panache and making cycling fun and really spectacular," says Magnier glowingly. "I can’t wait to ride by his side for the first time in my career in two weeks’ time, at Strade Bianche. I hope I can be of help there.”
