Einer Rubio has returned to competition this week at the Tour du Limousin after a long break, and is trying to regain his form back in time for the final mountainous races of the season where he's looking to still perform at a high level in 2022.
The Colombian crashed during the second stage of the Tour de Hongrie, and later abandoned the race. He contracted a complicated knee injury which kept him off the bike for "50 days" according to one of his recent social media posts. Having gotten back on the bike in recent months, he restarted training and has travelled to France where he started the hilly Tour du Limousin.
Having finished tenth at the Tour de Romandie earlier this year, aswell as having other promising results throughout the 2021 season, the Movistar Team rider is one of the hopes for the team to bolster it's mountain team in the coming years, and the Spanish team is also in need to the UCI points currently as they fight for maintenance in the World Tour.
The Colombian played a role in the team's win on stage two, as Alex Aranburu crossed the line first and is currently in the yellow jersey.
