With
Scheldeprijs often proving an epic battle of the best sprinters in the world,
Team Jayco AlUla are backing their Dutch sprinter
Dylan Groenewegen for overall victory.
“For Scheldeprijs we will have Dylan back in action after having the weekend off. The weather seems to suggest a bunch sprint," says Team Jayco AlUla sports director, Mathew Hayman to the team's official website. "Looking at the forecast it would seem that the wind won’t be strong enough to affect the race. Like it has done in the past and therefore the whole team will be there to support Dylan to bring him to the sprint in Schoten at his best.”
Groenewegen meanwhile, expresses his belief that the course is suited perfectly for him. “Among all the Belgian spring races, Scheldeprijs is one of the ones that best suits my characteristics as it is often a ‘sprinters race’," he says.
"In the last few races in Flanders I had good sensations and I think tomorrow could be a good opportunity for a strong result to finish off my spring classics season. A hard finish is expected and as usual the weather could affect the race, but it seems less likely than last year.”
