Team Visma | Lease a Bike's new time-trial helmets were the story of the day at
Tirreno-Adriatico, but on the road serious differences were made. The Dutch team did not have the best day, partly because of
Cian Uijtdebroeks' very large time loss throughout the 10 kilometers.
In an interview given before the start of the race, the Belgian admits that he has found peace of mind with Visma and immediately began working on his weak points. "Certainly. Once we had started, I was able to spend my time digesting everything properly and building up to the new season. There was plenty of work," Cian Uijtdebroeks told Wielerflits.
One such flaw was his time-trialing ability, which he was critical of at BORA - hansgrohe. Now with a few months of work and a new setup, the Belgian was still very far from the front. He was only 129th out of 175 riders yesterday in the race's opening time-trial, losing 1:10 minutes on Juan Ayuso over just 10 kilometers. A big loss. He is not the team leader for the race - but a support rider for Jonas Vingegaard, but nevertheless it is a rough result that will harm his chances of a good overall classification at t he end of the race.
“We started training very differently. On time trial – unfortunately I couldn't test that in O Gran Camiño – and also on explosiveness. We started working on my weaknesses. This means that my strengths are not yet great, but those weaknesses have improved," he added. "Now it is important to further improve our strengths and then move on to the big goals.”
