After their successful partnership at Gran Camino fired Vingegaard to overall victory, the duo are currently competing alongside each other once again at
Tirreno-Adriatico. “I think he can help me like in O Gran Camiño, but I also see him competing for the stage victory," Vingegaard said pre-stage 1 on Monday. "It is already certain that Uijtdebroeks fits very well into our team. He is a professional through and through and very eager to learn. That ensures a smooth adjustment.”
“Vingegaard has taken me under his wing a bit,” said Uijtdebroeks himself recently in conversation with Het Laatste Nieuws. “Just like him, I was not brought up with cycling. He watches me race, he gives me tips during the race and then he gives me feedback. He sees me as a young guy who can do great things in the future.”
“If I have any questions, I can ask them immediately and I will immediately receive an honest answer. We get along very well. I will ride the Vuelta a Catalunya with Sepp Kuss. In the Giro I am the only classification rider. Jonas says: 'If you have any questions about the Giro, just send them'.”
