Jonas Vingegaard was unable to find a way to crack the riddle that is Tadej Pogacar. For Visma | Lease Bike, that means their ultimate goal for 2025
Tour de France was not fulfilled. But on the last day, Wout van Aert gave his teammates and whole staff a reason to smile as he won on Champs-Élysées, riding the Slovenian off his wheel on Monmartre.
"We could have finished with the yellow jersey, but this is truly fantastic," said Visma general manager
Richard Plugge in an interview with NOS after the stage. "How Wout does this again... He really wanted to win here, and it's fantastic. We're now closing the Tour on a high note."
It took three weeks, but a rider in black-yellow jersey was able to drop Pogacar. Although Visma would've preferred for it to be Jonas Vingegaard rather than Wout Van Aert. But this will be an important moment for the Belgian regardless, after a race of struggling to find his legs, this is a moral boost towards the rest of the season.
"And how?! This is a climb that suits Wout. Pogacar went all out, three times in a row, but I could already see Wout wasn't flinching. The third time, he joined them. They were going to break away, but now he was the first to cross the summit. Absolutely perfect, fantastic!"
