Primoz Roglic has spent many years with Team Visma | Lease a Bike, the team in which he turned a World Tour rider back in 2016. This year he's moved into
BORA - hansgrohe, but he admits that his instinct during
Paris-Nice still is to follow his old teammates.
“So far it's going well. But during the race – after all these years – I still have the instinct to follow the yellows. I also still have to get used to these new colors," the Slovenian said in an interview with RTV Slo. In good spirits, Roglic made it through stage 2 unscathed, despite the hefty amount of crashes that happened towards the finale.
On the opening day his absence from the front of the peloton was notable when Remco Evenepoel and Matteo Jorgenson first attacked; but when the Belgian champion made his move on the final climb of the day Roglic was the only rider to be able to directly respond to him. The two are set to be the main favourites for the overall win. Roglic is now building experience with his new BORA - hansgrohe teammates.
“Because after all these years, in which you have always raced with the same riders, it is very different with a completely new team, with new people. So in this race, our main goal is first and foremost to get to know each other thoroughly and to gain confidence in each other," he concludes. "We want to work on that.”
