Alexander Kristoff wins Eurométropole Tour after surprisingly aggressive strategy

Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux have been riding a very strong season so far, and today Alexander Kristoff took another strong win as he went on the attack and won the Eurométropole Tour after an aggressive display.

The four-rider breakaway survived until just over 40 kilometers to go as the main attacks began in the peloton. A tricky classic, several riders looked to get ahead and race on the right foot. With 19 kilometers to go Jasper De Buyst attacked, with Alexander Kristoff and Dries van Gestel responding.

The trio worked well together, but was caught with three kilometers to go by Victor Campenaerts who bounced from a chasing group. Campenaerts and van Gestel briefly went off the front, but the two other riders got back to the front.

The peloton was close by, as De Buyst did the leadout for the trio. Campenaerts launched the sprint first, however Alexander Kristoff had the legs to take the win in the end, with Campenaerts dropped to third as Dries van Gestel sprinted to second place.
