Cofidis rider Guillaume Martin has won the second stage of the Tour de l'Ain. He took an early lead in the final kilometer and maintained it till the finish line.
Breakaway riders included Louis Richard (U Nantes Atlantique), Tony Hurel (St Michel-Auber 93), Jacob Eriksson (Riwal), and Hannes Wilksch (German selection). They took a lead of 2 minutes from the peloton. The peloton caught up to them 27 kilometers before the finish line.
Martin attacked one and a half kilometers before the finish and managed to create a gap. Mauri Vansevenant, Mattias Skjelmose Jensen, and Rudy Molard were trying hard not to let Martin finish first, but the group could stop him from taking the victory. Mattias Skjelmose Jensen finished in second place while Rudy Molard secured bronze. Martin is the new overall leader.
