BORA - hansgrohe have thrived into the pink jersey in 2022, and next year they will be aiming for the same as they support Aleksandr Vlasov in the pursuit for the Giro d'Italia win. A shortlist of riders has already been created.
With Jai Hindley focusing on a climber-ideal Tour de France, alongside Emanuel Buchmann, Vlasov will be given the lead at the Giro. Alongside his ambitions Lennard Kämna is also expected to have the freedom to chase stage wins, and 11 riders have already been named by team manager Ralph Denk in an interview with Radsport-News.
Bob Jungels, Matteo Fabbro, Patrick Konrad, Giovanni Aleotti, Anton Palzer, Frederik Wandahl, Patrick Gamper, Nico Denz and Cesare Benedetti are all possibilities to ride the Corsa Rosa. Three of these riders will not be present at the race, however it becomes very clear by the list that the team will purely aim for the mountains and GC. No sprinters are present in the list, pointing at a possible all-out GC stint, with Sam Bennett eyeing the Tour de France.
The Giro will take place from the 6th to 28th of May and the German team will have a title to attempt to defend. Between the riders who are expected to be at the start are also Remco Evenepoel, Mads Pedersen, João Almeida, Geraint Thomas and Jack Haig.
