"I don't think anything will ever top this" - Quinn Simmons steals the spotlight on Champs-Élysées

Quinn Simmons may have not won any Tour de France stages this year, but by many metrics, the American champion can be still seen as the "true winner" of the race. Captured by present cameras, Simmons proposed to his girlfriend after finish on Champs-Élysées. And she said 'yes'.

"I finished the Tour in the best possible way. I don't think anything will ever top this," Simmons told Eurosport afterwards.

"I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to marry me and she said 'yes'. She's always by my side. She comes with me to every training camp, she always eats those boring meals with me..."

The Lidl-Trek rider admits that his mind was a little bit adrift in the last kilometers, picturing this moment in his head over and over. "I was a bit distracted, thinking about this moment and the whole stage. The last lap of sixteen kilometres felt like it took forever." But the reward for finishing the Tour couldn't have been any sweeter...
