Jeffrey Hoogland has won his 3rd Time Trial world title in 5 years after claiming victory by nearly a second and a half at the UCI Track World Championships in France.
After picking up a silver medal in yesterdays Keirin, Hoogland went one better in the 1km Time Trial, beating out his nearest rival, France's Melvin Landerneau by a huge gap of 1.462 seconds much to the disappointment of the French crowd in attendance at the Vélodrome National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
Spain's Alejandro Martinez Chorro had finished 8th in qualification however he put in the ride of his life when it really mattered, incredibly picking up a bronze medal. It even looked for a while like it could have been even better for the Spaniard as rider after rider failed to match his time until Melvin Landerneau eclipsed him by .3 of a second, sending the French crowd into raptures. Ultimately Hoogland was just on another level to everyone else however claiming a comfortable victory.
