Jennifer Valente is the Women's Omnium World Champion

27-year-old San Diego native Jennifer Valente has backed up her Olympic gold from Tokyo 2020 in the Omnium with victory at the UCI Track World Championships in France.

The Omnium of course contains 4 different disciplines the Scratch Race, the Tempo Race, the Elimination Race and finally the Points Race meaning the eventual winner can claim to be the most well rounded rider in the track cycling world.

Being Olympic champion, Valente was always going to be one of the favourites and so it proved. Incredibly consistent, never finishing below 9th place in any of the disciplines she was victorious by 9 points from her nearest challenger, Netherlands' Maike van der Duin.

The battle for bronze was extremely tight with just 6 points separating 3rd to 6th on the leader board. Eventually it was Portugal's Maria Martins who took the final spot on the podium and the bronze medal along with it.
