Puck Pieterse: "I felt good, so I decided to go straight for it"

Puck Pieterse became the new U23 Women’s European cyclo-cross champion. The Dutchwoman created a gap at the start of the first lap and never looked back. This is her second victory of the season.

Pieterse spoke a few words after the race and shared her experience. "It was a fast start, as always with the promising women. After the start, I felt good, so I decided to go straight for it on the first lap. I wanted to be at the front during the technical passages. Fortunately, it worked out well. I had a gap that I could, fortunately, keep,” she told wielerflits.

Pieterse was not going to let fate decide the outcome of the race and she personally saw all the preparations for mechanical parts of her bike including tyres and chains. "The course dried up quite a bit. I rode Typhoon tires in the back and Rhinos in the front. That was a good combination, I think. Yesterday we also saw that you have to stay out of trouble, keep your bike good and don't get flat tires. Then it's a nice round," concluded Pieterse.
