Remco Evenepoel has had an outstanding 2022 season and that has not only seen big changes in his professional life, but also his personal. After some months of preparation, the World Champion is now already living and training in Spain.
Ever since he was a junior rider he has been extensively followed and talked of. Often the term 'new Merckx' was present, putting unreasonable amount of expectations on the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team and at times harming his performances. With that, he has made the decision to move out of Belgium this winter, and has relocated into Alicante, Spain, with his wife.
Earlier this year, when revealing the decision, Evenepoel has told Het Laatste Nieuws: "The region around Alicante is a really beautiful area to train. The weather is good all year round, so it's ideal for my basics and winter training... I'm going to focus on my daily life, not on something like a singing competition. The people who want something from me won't know where I am or what I'm doing. That should help a bit."
The Vuelta a Espana champion had spent large months in the Spanish Mediterranean coast over the last few years, and decided to move permanently to the region. The presentation for Quick-Step will be in Belgium on the 6th of January, but Evenepoel should have ease to join his teammate who will be coming in the period of time to the sunny Spanish weather region.
